A.L. in D.C.

Hello!

My wonderful colleagues and I are hard at work preparing a concert version of Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur to be performed with the Washington Concert Opera at the Lisner Auditorium on the campus of Geroge Washington University. We've been rehearsing this exciting (but not frequently performed) work all week; tonight was our first rehearsal with the orchestra--so now I'm REALLY excited about our performance!

I am especially enjoying working again with Betsey Bishop, with whom I had the pleasure of working last season at Atlanta Opera in Aida. It's always nice to make new music with old friends.

Everybody sounds great (if I do say so myself), and I think it's going to be a fantastic show. If you're in the DC area, drop in and see us on Sunday afternoon!

  1. You were on fire tonight... Amazing! I've listened to recordings of "Adriana" before and always thought there wasn't much music there, and that what there was, was a bit repetitive. Oh, how wrong you and your cast mates proved me to be. I heard this opera anew tonight, and I loved it -- due, in no small part, to your performance. Brava, and keep up the good work. I'm the guy who came back after the performance and said you were born to sing this role. I hope you get many more chances to do so.
